Introduction
The Art, History, and Literature Project is a self-paced, student directed project that students complete during the course of each semester. The purpose of this project is three-fold: 1) to allow students to pursue knowledge and familiarity with the Spanish-speaking world in content areas which they find personally interesting, 2) to expose students to the tremendous variety of art, history, and literature associated with the Spanish-speaking world that we cannot cover during class time, and 3) to prepare students for the rigorous research and writing requirements that they will need to be successful in Advanced Placement (AP) and university-level coursework.
The Art, History, and Literature Project requires students to complete four written research/analysis assignments. Students may choose from a list of research/analysis topics, or may create a different topic in consultation with the teacher. Each topic has a different set of guidelines for evaluation. One research/analysis assignment will be due on the following dates:
Semester I
- Wednesday, September 28th
- Wednesday, December 7th
Semester II
- Wednesday, Feb. 29th
- Wednesday, May 16th
Common topics and their evaluation guidelines are provided below. Students may choose any topic but cannot repeat a topic, and they must discuss their selection with the teacher before beginning work. Students must complete at least one novel assignment. Also, students must complete at least one of the assignments in Spanish.
All projects must originate from a Spanish speaking country and MUST CONTAIN a title page, an abstract and a works cited page. This must be your own work.
