Welcome to The Planets LibGuide assignment page. This page will provide information about what your report must contain, how it will be evaluated, and updates on deadlines.
You must also include a bibliography or citation page with your report. Information on properly citing sources will be available in class or you may click on the links below. You may also look at the citation links on the websites where you are getting the information for your report on the internet. Remember that the internet is not your only resource. You are required to use at least one book, and one website for your report.
"Must Have" Information
This report is of a scientific nature and should contain facts about the planet. Your report must include the following information:
Name of the planet
Who discovered the planet
When was it discovered
How did it get its name
Distance from the sun
What is it mainly composed of
What type of atmosphere does it have
Which explorer craft from Earth have visited it
If it has satellites, how many does it have and what are their names
Keep in mind that your report will be evaluated on the following traits:
- Presentation (it should include pictures and/or diagrams)
- Word Choice
This is a report of a scientific nature, and there should be scientific terminology in it. Your reader may not be familiar with some of the terms, so you will need to explain them in some way. Consult your copy of the 6 Traits rubric to evaluate your report before submitting it. (Click below to see a copy of the rubric.) Your report must be typed. The body of your report should be in either Arial or New Times Roman 12 pt. font with 1 1/2 line spacing. Titles may vary. Check with me for approval. You may arrange a writing conference with me at any time to go over your material before submitting a final copy.
