12.7: Similar Solids Print Page


Similar Solids: Solids that have the same shape but not the same size.

If the scale factor of two similar solids is a:b , then (1) the ratio of corresponding perimeters is a:b (2) the ratio of the base areas, and of the total areas is a2:b(3) the ratio of the volumes is a3:b3


The scale factor is 5:10

a. Ratio of base perimeters = 5:10

b. Ratio of lateral areas = 52:102

C. Ratio of the volumes = 53:103
