Welcome To the World of the Gods

Greek Mythology is one of the most interesting subjects studied around the world.  Greek mythology is the body of myths and legends belonging to the ancient Greeks concerning their gods and heroes, the nature of the world, and the origins and significance of their own cult and ritual practices. They were a part of religion in ancient Greece.

In this lesson, you will research a specific God or Goddess that interests you. You will write a 5 paragraph essay about this God/Goddess and give a presentation to the class as if you were the that person. The presentation will be 2 to 5 minutes long and can include a powerPoint.

Who to Choose? What to look for?

From the readings under the "Top 12" tab, find a God or Goddess that peaks your interest. Do deep research into your God or Goddess that includes the following information:

  • Greek and Roman names
  • What they rule over
  • Weapons/symbols that are associated with that God/Goddess
  • Connection to other Gods/Goddesses
  • Some background information
  • A summary of a myth that is associated with God/Goddess
  • Influence of God/Goddess in modern society
