Purpose of Assignment?

Students will research a famous person, write a 800 to 1000 word essay with in text citations, a bibliography, prepare a powerpoint presentation and then present to the class. You will be writing an essay that will include the following: Introduction Paragraph - grabber, birth/most interesting facts and thesis statement, 1st section - facts about their life, 2nd section - challenges and triumphs in life, 3rd section - why is this person famous/remembered and a conclusion paragraph. The conclusion should restate the thesis, review major points, and have a thought provoking ending.

WHO???

A good example of the type of person to use for this assignment is Elie Wiesel. This is a good model for what is expected of you. This humanitarian survived the Holocaust and went on to do amazing work throughout his life . Choose someone that you are interested in, your research will be much more interesting.
