Ask Us!

The Dobson High School library is truly a resource center for both students and teachers.  If you only remember one thing, remember that the librarians are here to help you.  We are experienced in searching for information and are willing to help you with any project or assignment.

Teachers are encouraged to sign up to use the Media Center for research.  The technology and the trained staff are resources that support your curriculum and the standards.

Please remember that the librarians are willing to help you with any project or assignment.  If we don't know the answer, we will find someone who does!

For more help away from school, become familiar with the Mesa Public Schools Library Resource Center website it contains great databases, citation tools, video podcasts, etc.  You will find the answers to many of your questions there.   You'll be able to link to the Destiny catalog and on-line databases from there, as well.

Book Borrowing

Visit the Circulation Desk for any questions or problems regarding book borrowing, fines, placing a book on hold, or renewals.

Students must show a current Dobson Student ID in order to check out books.

Books may be borrowed for two weeks, limit four.

Reference books and encyclopedia are available for in library use only.

Students with over due books will not be allowed to borrow until overdue books are returned.

All materials are available for renewal, with one exception:  if the item is on hold for another student, it may not be renewed.

Lost books may be paid for at the Media Center or the Bookstore.

When a book that has been placed on hold becomes available we will send a notice to your 2nd hour teacher.

Typing Lab

In order to accommodate students who may need to type and/or print their homework, the Media Center contains a lab set aside for that purpose.  Room 803 inside the library has 15 computers with Microsoft Office--Word, Excel, and Powerpoint--for student use.

Please note that work cannot be saved on the hard drive of these computers.  Students should bring a flashdrive to save their work, or save it to a Google Docs account.

Classes and Passes

  •  As per our Principal's directive, ALL students must have a pass to come into the Media Center during school hours.  You may pick one up before school in the Media Center, or from you current class teacher.   During Conference time, you must have a pass from the Media Center Staff.   As per our principals directive, all students must also get a pass from the Media Center staff to come into the Media Center during lunch.   You may pick one up before school or after school for the next day.

  •   Teachers may reserve time in the Media Center for their classes to do research or use the library facilities.  Please check with one of the library staff to schedule the time.  Advance notice is appreciated when our help is needed for the project; we are always willing to brainstorm ideas and identify resources available for your students.

  •  When sending individual or groups of students to the Media Center, teachers should sign individual passes and confirm that students are carrying their student ID's.  If the group is larger than three students, it is best to call to make sure the Media Center can accommodate the students.

Using the Internet

  • Internet research should be educational in nature.  NO GAMES are allowed.
  •  Except when accompanied by a teacher, ALL individual students must present a current Dobson ID in order to sign up to use the internet.
