eBooks for Students and Families

ebook  The eBook Revolution is Here! 

eBooks are copies of books that you read on a computer. If you see the above icon in the library catalog it is an eBook that can be read online at school or at home. 

To read an eBook:

1. Click on the title.

2. Click "Read Online" to read the book.

3. If you want to check out the book click online.  You have to be logged in to check out an eBook. When you check out an eBook it counts towards your book limit.

You can read an eBook online without checking it out or being logged in. Remember that when you are reading an eBook, nobody else can read that copy until you return it.books


eBooks have many features that traditional paper books may be missing:

  • You can search through the text for a specific word or phrase
  • You can currently carry eBooks with you on your laptop or smartphone
  • You can shrink or enlarge the text size
  • You can add digital bookmarks
  • You get instantaneous delivery  

What is Destiny Quest and why do I need it?

Destiny is the online library catalog used by Mesa Public Schools.  Each school has its own catalog and you can access it at school or at home 24/7.  It is available in two formats, Destiny and Destiny Quest.  Destiny Quest allows you to be more interactive.

With your own Destiny Quest account you can:   

·    Create lists of books to read 

·    Save a list of books you need for a project 

·    Put a book on hold 

·    Recommend a book 

·    Suggest new books for your school's library 

·    Read reviews written by other students

·    Write your own reviews                                                          

·    Rate a book by giving it 1 to 5 stars                                                

 ·    Browse the catalog

 ·    Search more easily for your topics

  • Go to your school library homepage
  • Click on the Create Account tab
  • Enter your last name and barcode
  • Enter your birthdate
  • Create a user name and password
  • Account can be accessed at school or at home
