What to expect

Sub Plans 1/17/12

 

Every period will have the same assignment.  They’ve all done some background building on the author Maxine Hong Kingston.  ASK THEM TO TAKE OUT THE SHEET TITLED “MAXINE HONG KINGSTON: EXCERPT FROM THE WOMAN WARRIOR.”  It will be on a sheet of their own notebook paper.

 

There is a class set of an excerpt of “The Woman Warrior” in the front of the class.  Make sure they do not write on them because I have only enough for one full class. 

 

FIRST hour has not started reading the story and you’ll have to ask each class if they’ve started reading it on Friday.  The background building took longer in some classes than others.  If they have started reading it you can begin on page 84 so that they can re-read a little to remember the story.  You can popcorn read it as a class.

 

At the end, have them respond to #s 1 and 2 on the back of the excerpt.  They need to have fully developed responses in paragraph form – not simple 1-2 sentence responses.
