Report Assignment

Students will have a 1-2 page written or typed report on their state.  We will use the materials listed to help build that report in class.  Please refer to the outline listed on this page to see what information they will use to include in their state report.  State reports will have their sources cited in the bibliography.

I.                    Geography

A.     How many counties are in your state?

B.     What are the major cities in your state?  List a least three of them.  Show on a map where they are located. 

C.     What kinds of land forms are in your state? Name at least 2 of them and show them on a map where they are located. (mountains, plains, deserts)

D.     Name the major bodies of water that are in your state or border your state.  Show on a map where at least 2 of them are located along with the North, South, East, West guide.

 

II.                 History

A.     When did your state receive statehood?

B.     What person, or groups of people founded your state?  What year did it happen?

C.     What major events have occurred in your state since statehood?  List at least three events.

D.     Name at least three famous people from your state.  What did they do?

 

III.               Facts (Final Draft of this page must be typed by the student)

A.     What is the capital of your state?

B.     What is the current population?

C.     What is the State Bird, State Flower, State Tree?

 

IV.              Tourism

A.     What are the major tourist locations?  List at least 3 of them.  Where are they located?

B.     If you could chose a place in your state to visit with your family for a week, where would you  go?  What things would you do there? (Writing Workshop)
