Beowulf Print Page

Week 1 Tasks

Day 1: Review annotation and summary

  • Number the paragraphs
  • Circle key terms, dates, names, repeated words
  • Underline main ideas/claims
  • Build a summary by identifying 1)What the author says + What the author means= summary

Day 2: Print the article about Medieval times using MPS databases (see assignment under Writing tab to access databases)

Day 3: With the printed article from day one, practice taking Cornell notes.

Day 4: Reading Lexile test (Note this exam is timed and must be completed in class)

Day 5: Read Beowulf and complete the "Reader's Guide Sheet"

Day 6: Philosophical Chairs using the topic of heroism

            Meet in reading groups to discuss the poem and response sheet

Day 7-8: Create a brief essay in response to Beowulf. A rough and hand-written ink final draft in MLA will be turned in.
