Geocaching Definition

Geocaching is a worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure. A geocacher can place a geocache in the world, pinpoint its location using GPS technology and then share the geocache’s existence and location online. Anyone with a GPS unit can then try to locate the geocache.

 

     

    Purpose of This Assignment

    This guide will introduce you to geocaching and help you prepare to use the GPS.  We will explore most of these materials in class but if you want to get started on your own, have fun!

     This article presents information on geocaching, a modern-day treasure hunt activity that uses global positioning systems.  Log in and read this Encyclopedia Britannica article.
